Why we rated Viking Man our #1 over Hims

Hims

When talking about erectile dysfunction, it can be an uncomfortable topic, but Hims is making it a little more appealing. Forhims provides a tele-health platform for you to discuss all your erectile dysfunction concerns. When you can discuss your ED on your time from the comfort of your own home, it can put you a bit more at ease. Afterall, you aren’t having to travel to a doctor’s stuffy office, hope you don’t see anyone who can recognize you, and hope the walls are thick enough to not hear you in the next room.

“What are The Steps to Get Started on Hims?”

The steps to getting started on forhims are pretty easy, you have to answer some health-related questions about your erectile dysfunction concerns. Next you consult with a licensed provider and if prescribed medication, it will arrive to your door in discreet packaging. You can then take your medication as prescribed and reach out with any concerns or side affects you notice.

A concern for Hims ED, and other similar services, is that an online doctor cannot physically examine you. They are unable to tell if your erectile dysfunction is a symptom to a larger problem. Therefore, it may be necessary for you to be seen by your primary health practitioner prior to checking into Hims.

“What Medications Does Hims Prescribe?”

Hims provides many prescription options to help you with your ED and lifestyle. Hims provides medication you can take as you need prior to sex or pills you can take daily so you can stay in the moment. The prices do vary based on which medication you choose and if you would rather take generic medication or not.

Please note that Hims is a subscription-based service and all medication prices do not include the subscription price. You will also get a one-time $5 fee added to your first purchase. Additionally, your medications cannot be adjusted (type or frequency) without a doctor’s approval. This can result in unwanted medication being sent if you aren’t able to get the system updated in time before the next shipment.

As Needed Medication:

  • Sildenafil Citrate (Generic for Viagra) – starting $4 per dose
  • Viagra – starting $70 per dose
  •  Stendra (Avanafil) – fast acting pill can be effective in 15 mins – starting $59 per dose

Daily ED Pills:

  • Tadalafil (Generic Cialis) – starting $99 per month
  • Cialis – starting $525 per month

Daily PE Pills:

  • Sertraline – starting at $24 per month
  • Paroxetine – starting at $24 per month

“Who Can Use Hims?”

Hims ED is available in all 50 US states and some treatments are also available in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. For the UK only Finasteride and Sildenafil are available at this time.

Also please note that you must have a valid government issued ID to purchase any prescription medication through Hims. You will be required to upload pictures of your government ID to verify your identity. If you don’t want to provide your ID or have an expired ID then you will need to find a different solution.

“How is Hims Rated?”

Overall, Hims has a bit of a mixed rating but mostly trending negatively. The Better Business Bureau has Hims rated 1.19 out of 5 with 86 reviews. The primary concern from the reviews is how difficult it is to cancel their subscription, change medication, follow up with doctors, extra items being added to their subscription without permission, and the difficulty to get customer service to reply.

Trustpilot has a higher rating for Hims at a 4.2 out of 5 with 910 reviews. However, it does state the reviews were merged but doesn’t specify with which company. Therefore, it is hard to know if the reviews are truly accurate. Most of the negative reviews mention the poor customer service, no ability to pause or cancel the subscription, doctor’s not caring or putting in time to get to know the patient, getting multiple doctors, and being prescribed incorrect products.

In Closing

Hims provides a similar service for erectile dysfunction, just as Viking Man and others. Hims does provide the most medication treatment options over any other similar service. However, you do not have as much control over your subscription service (and charges) as you do with other similar options. Forhims is available in all 50 US States, unlike some other services, and has limited offerings in the UK.

The overall model is great to get the help you need from the privacy of your own home on your schedule. Being able to discuss all your concerns with a licensed medical professional and receiving your medication (if prescribed) discreetly to your door is fantastic. What hurts Hims, in our mind, is their poor customer service, inability to have control over your subscription service, and the extra costs added to you without fully disclosing them.

Other Questions About ED You May Have

“Are erectile dysfunction drugs safe?”

Yes, ED medications are generally safe, as long as you are healthy enough for sexual activity. There are medications that do not mix with erectile dysfunction medication which is why it is important to discuss your full health in detail with your doctor prior to taking any new medication.

It is also important to be sure you are obtaining the correct FDA medication. Any website that is offering erectile dysfunction medication without a prescription and/or not using a reputable pharmacy is not providing reputable pills. This means they are likely using ingredients that you are unaware of that can have serious consequences.

“Are erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation related?”

No, they are not directly related. Erectile dysfunction is the difficulty getting or maintaining an erection for sex and premature ejaculation occurs when a man ejaculates sooner than he would like during sex. You can have ED and not have PE and vice versa, though they can occur together. If you are having a problem with both erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation it is recommended to seek help for your ED first as it could resolve your PE. As with both erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, there can be several underlying physical or psychological causes. It is best to discuss all your concerns with a licensed medical professional to ensure you are being properly diagnosed and treated for either or both conditions.
